SEPA heads down under for energy market learning tour

November 24, 2022

eleXsys recently welcomed US-based organisation Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) to Australia for a mission of networking and briefings on our forward-looking energy market.

eleXsys VP of Development for North America was instrumental in arranging the tour down under, which included a detailed briefing on our flagship IKEA eleXsys Microgrid project in South Australia.

SEPA is a non-profit US organisation working towards a carbon-free energy future through education, research, standards and collaboration. More than 25 of the group’s 1,100 members participated in the Australian visit.

“Our relationship with SEPA has been an ongoing priority because they’re drivers of change and many of their members have carbon-free or net-zero emissions goals,” Mr Thrall said.

“That’s where we come in at eleXsys,” he said. “Our system has the potential to offer SEPA’s members a renewable energy solution in their pursuit of a carbon-free future.

“We were able to offer SEPA a detailed look at the IKEA eleXsys Microgrid followed by a networking dinner to close out the week, which encouraged further industry collaboration.”

The SEPA visit was promoted as an opportunity for “practical lessons with fellow executives down under” and cited an expectation that Australia’s main grid could surpass the goal of being 50% powered by renewables by 2025.

Attendees included SEPA’s new CEO Sheri Givens who acknowledged the opportunities to learn about decarbonisation technologies and policies from Australian colleagues.

At eleXsys, our ability to implement profitable solar and battery-powered microgrids at commercial, industrial and urban sites has garnered strong US interest and we were honoured to welcomed SEPA representatives to Australia.
